Egg bound

by: Anonymous

I had an egg bound chicken where I helped her
pass the egg, however after using prep H and isolated her she seemed to get better but 2 weeks later was once again staying away from the rest of the group.

I noticed she was loosing weight and had a yellow discharge , she stopped eating and drinking developed a fever and she passed away. Did I do something wrong?

This is the second egg bound chicken that has eventually died.

I feed them lots of fruits veges, mash, calcium and they have free run, all the rest of the chickens are fine.

How do I prevent this from happening again, I love my girls and they are all so sweet.

Is this a prolapse?
by: Susan

My beautiful girl came out of her chook pen this morning and her rear was covered in blood and feces. When I caught her to have a look, it looks like her gut is actually coming out of her back-passage. There is also a lot of fresh looking blood. I don't know what to do for her as I have just started looking after chooks and are very much of a novice. I will do anything possible to help her.
