bald butt
by: Anonymous

I have 5 very healthy birds but the `dominant ` one has a complete bald patch on her rump, I note that despite my best efforts she roosts in the nest box amongst her, and others droppings. I do clean the nest boxes every other day but cant always keep up. I have not noticed any mites and her skin is very clean with no scars. What do I need to do, if anything

red bare butts
by: Anonymous

I have a flock of hens no roosters. They free range all day on our farm. At night they go back to the coop which is clean has roosts and nesting boxes, only 12 chickens. I keep it clean and change the bedding in the boxes regularly. All my hens have bright red bottoms with no feathers. They look great other than that. They are laying profusely and seem very happy. Why are there butts bright red and all missing their feathers? I see no pecking or pulling of feathers during the day and all is quiet in the coop at night. And no they are not molting!

Baby Black Sex Link chick missing feathers
by: Anonymous

We just got some new baby chicks and when we got home realized one of our black sex links has patches of her feathers missing on her back and around her neck. They are brand new, only a few days old. What could cause this? Could it be a disease and could it be contagious to the others?
Thanks
