WHAT CAN I DO FOR INJURED CHICKS?

by Hannah dover

We have two half grown chicks to get attacked by something and now can't walk no blood but they lay down all the time. They eat and drink very alert seems a little sore they shut there eyes sometimes like in pain we have no vet to look at them not sure what to do. Also when they lay down they stretch out or fall over.

CARING FOR INJURED CHICKS
by: Sharon

I would highly suggest separating these two to a safe and comfortable cage.

It's impossible to know if they will get better or worse. They may have internal injuries. You didn't say what attacked them, but the behavior they are displaying sounds like moderate to severe internal injuries.

Often rest in a peaceful environment, with food and water close, possibly even a heat lamp if temperatures are cool day or night.

Chickens are tough creatures with a strong will to survive. Leaving them in the community can be hard on them. Allowing them to recover without other stresses will help speed up the healing process - if healing can be accomplished.
