Hatching Eggs
by: cheap chicks farm

Some breeds have to many feathers to breed properly. You can try clipping some of them, also hen age can have a lot to do with it.

Just because she still lays eggs does not mean they will be good for hatching. Also, make sure you keep water in the incubator at all times. My hatch rate is 70% for my cochin bantams.

Also, a lot of show breeders use cochin silkie crosses to hatch chicks they are excellent mothers.

Setting hens prefer privacy. In a coop you may have other hens trying to lay eggs in the nest you are hoping will hatch. Newly hatched chicks can get run over with a bunch of adults running around.

If you set up a nice brooding area, your best setters can have peace and quiet and not have to compete at the feeder and water or for nest space.
