re-blind chicken
by: Anonymous

I dont think it was an ammonia build up... And I dont think that the space size is necessarily too small, especially if it is kept clean. I have a couple chickens out of 30 that had this happen a couple weeks ago- one with both eyes shut, one with just one eye. I isolated them both immediately-and have been treating with antibiotics. Most likely it is a respiratory infection- the sinus swelling backing up into the eyes. Even if they recover from this- they will be carriers of the infection...

chicken with a swollen eye
by: Anonymous

My chicken has a severe puffy eye. It started a couple of weeks ago a little swollen and red, I didn't have any medicine for it but later got a hold of some terramicin which Ive been putting in her eye.Doesn't seem to be helping though! and when I touch the eye it seems hard. I'm wondering if its a tumor? she also seems to be having some trouble breathing and has a funny smell. I would love to save her but I might have to put her down :(
